The Lost Journal Pages of Meriwether Lewis

 

Use this Activity:

Discuss/Introduce - Explain to students that Thomas Jefferson believed Lewis and Clark would find woolly mammoths and mountains made of salt along their journey. Further explain that everything we know about the expedition came from the detailed journal of Meriwether Lewis. What if some of the journal was lost? Tell students to use their imaginations to describe exotic wlidlife in a "lost" journal page.
Independent Work- This activity takes students about 15-20 minutes.
