Discussion QuestionsStart Tour - INTO THE WILDImagine the JourneyImagine paddling for eight hours a day on the Missouri River with numb arms. You face dangers from wild animals, freezing winters, hot summers, and even attacks. Bugs bite constantly, and sharp plants tear up your shoes and feet. Storms and mountains make travel nearly impossible. After all that, you spend a cold, wet winter with 40 people in a tiny cabin. Hardship and SurvivalIt might sound like something out of a movie or a dystopian book, but this was real life for the 42 members of the Lewis and Clark expedition. The journey was filled with danger and discomfort, but also with adventure and courage. The Corps of DiscoveryFrom 1804 to 1806, Lewis, Clark, and their team explored the Louisiana Territory. They traveled by boat and on foot, mapping the land and discovering over 300 new animals and plants. They also met many Native American groups and recorded important information about them. An Amazing AchievementEven though the journey was long and full of danger, only one person died—early in the trip due to illness. The story of Lewis and Clark is one of the most incredible real-life adventures in American history. Start Tour - INTO THE WILD
