Bill of Responsibilities |
This fun activity requires students to think of a companion to James Madison's Bill of Rights - The Bill or Responsibilities. What responsibilities should citizens have to maintain our democracy? |
Use this Activity: |
| Explain/Brainstorm - In 1791, James Madison helped draft the Bill of Rights, which became the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. Imagine if he had also written a "Bill of Responsibilities"—or if such a document were added to the Constitution in the future. What responsibilities might it include for American citizens? Ask students to volunteer examples and discuss their ideas. |
