| Discuss - Read and discuss the introduction to the activity. The introduction includes a detailed description of the food items available at the Valley Forge winter encampment including firecake, hardtack, salt beef, and salt pork. Review these items with students and tell them they will be role playing as modern-day entrepreneurs trying to create "authentic" experiences for visitors. In this case, they will be creating a restaurant that serves Valley Forge meals. The first step in the present assignment is to create the menu. In creating the menu, students should aim to use alliteration or other methods to make the items sound as interesting as possible (such as Heavenly Hardtack or Fantastic Firecake.
