What does the Star-spangled Banner look like in student-made images? Amazing!!
Use this Activity:

Before you assign to students, it might be helpful to define some of the vocbulary words in the National Anthem

  • Ramparts - Defensive walls around a city
  • Perilous - Dangerous
  • Twilight - The time of the day when light fades to dark or vice versa
  • Gleaming - Shining
  • Broad stripes and bright stars refers to the American flag.
Explain - Encourage students to make vivid, colorful pictures from the lyrics of the National Anthem.
Display - These make incredible classroom or hallway displays, especially near Independence Day or Presidents Day.
