Use this Activity: |
| Discuss - Discuss the purpose of a flag and ask students what they think the American flag represents. Explain that the 13 stripes represent the original colonies and the 50 stars represent the states. Allow students to volunteer anything they know about other flags and what those flags represent. If possible, project images of flags on the whiteboard and discuss meaning with your students. Then, pass out the coloring page and ask students what they think Blackbeard's flag represents. |
