The Greatest Mythical Place

Based on the Iroquoian explanation of the Kingdom of Saguenay to Jacques Cartier, and Coronado's description of the Seven Cities of Cibola, students must describe and draw the greatest mythical place they have ever experienced in a book, movie, or video game! Very fun and engaging.

Use this Activity:

Discussion - Students love books and movies about mythical places. Have them brainstorm such places in movies and literature. Tell them that several hundreds years ago, people such as Francisco Coronado and Jacques Cartier believed that such kingdoms existed on Earth and spent their fortunes looking for them. Instruct students to draw a colorful scene and write a short narrative about their favorite mythical place.
Brainstorm - Brainstorm mythical places (such as Hogwarts) that students have read about in books, seen in movies, or explored in video games.
Morning Work - This activity can serve as a fun start to the day or social studies class.
Homework -This activity is a great way to assign homework in social studies.
Interactive Notebook - This assignment serves as a great entry in interactive social studies notebooks.
