The object of the assignment is to write a persuasive essay that emphasizes his accomplishments and contributions and downplays his treason. Students may need to conduct research to gain a true picture of Arnold's accomplishments and contributions, as well as his ongoing problems with the Continental Congress. Reiterate to students that they are role-playing as Benedict Arnold, and thus, are free to use hyperbole to bolster their claims. This should be a fun assignment. |
