License Plate Preamble

Cut out the vanity plates and re-arrange them to form the Preamble of the Constitution
Steps:
  1. Explain vanity license plates to students and project examples to the whiteboard. Then, either pass out a copy of the Preamble or project the text of the Preamble to the whiteboard.
  2. Explain assignment to students and make sure each students has a glue stick, scissors, and Ziploc bag.
  3. Tell students that they will be constructing the preamble by rearranging the license plates. License plates must be cut out and pasted onto the second sheet in the correct order. The first license plate is the Montana plate with the letters "We.....Th."
  4. Students can cut and paste as they go.
  5. The activity takes about 60-75 minutes. Students can store the unused or uncut plates in the Ziploc bag if they run out of time. It's perfect for Constitution Day!
